This entire collection is made by upcycling pre-production sample waste released by textile factory. These sample waste is so far inevitably being generated due to the testing needs before mass production and most of them will go into the landfill directly as there are some stamps and flaws on them.

But to me, they are really valuable resources—they are all rectangular which is perfect for zero-waste patterns and all of them have original label attached which can provide accurate composition information to keep product transparency. I applied zero-waste patterning technique to make the best use of these fabrics including all selvedge and defected parts to ensure that all the resources were efficiently used without generating any new waste.

Through this collection, I tried to propose a solution that can simultaneously achieve both goals of ‘upcycling existing waste’ and ‘avoiding future waste’ in a smart, fun and elegant way. Welcome to TANGRAM CLUB!
