Upcycling Market Waste into a New Hub: Community Building Workshop with U-Market

At U-market‘s invitation, Pei-Wen and Japanese architect Hiroshi Ohno orchestrated a transformative upcycling workshop. Local residents and students were warmly welcomed to join, urged to infuse their creativity into crafting a communal oasis from locally-sourced materials. With Hiroshi Ohno’s team crafting a flexible bamboo frame, Pei-Wen utilized her expertise to lead the team in transforming discarded plastic bags collected from the market into stunning waterproof fabric. These waterproof fabrics were then pieced together to create a vibrant patchwork canopy.

Together, they birthed more than just a physical structure; they forged a symbol of community spirit, where emotions converge and connections blossom.
