The Culture X AI 2025: International Fashion Show, held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, was part of an innovative initiative led by AiDLab, a collaboration between The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Royal College of Art. Dedicated to exploring the limitless intersections between culture and technology, the project selected ten young talents from around the world to participate. Each designer was tasked with embedding their cultural inspirations into AiDA, an AI fashion design tool, opening new possibilities for collaborative creation between human intuition and machine learning.
Among them, Pei-Wen introduced a unique interpretation of her cultural roots through fashion. Her series, Siōng Tshinn (尚青)—meaning “the freshest” in Taiwanese Hokkien—was inspired by the vibrant spirit of Taiwan’s traditional marketplaces. Through bold colors, textured materials, and an atmosphere where elegance and everyday life coexist, Pei-Wen sought to capture the sensory impressions of these familiar spaces. She transformed these memories into descriptive prompts, inviting AiDA to participate in the creative dialogue. The collaborative process between human and machine opened new spaces for imagination and exploration.
In line with her commitment to sustainability, Pei-Wen developed the collection using her zero-waste pattern techniques, working with retired market tarps and vintage tablecloths—materials once part of daily life. Each garment carried the marks of spontaneity, intimacy, and resilience, echoing the stories woven into the fabric of the streets.
Through Siōng Tshinn (尚青), Pei-Wen shared a personal glimpse into Taiwanese street culture, embracing the imperfect beauty of everyday moments. Her work offered a quiet reflection on how technology and tradition might meet—not to replace each other, but to inspire new conversations for the future.
